My Baltic Journey
Follow me on the path from Vilnius to Tartu. I've passed this route back and forth a remarkable number of times — by train, by bus, by plane, by car. Quite often, with a promenade, lunch, and hugs in Riga. I'm one of the few truly Baltic persons who speaks the languages of the Baltic states (my Latvian is still very basic, since my transit time has been limited).
My Vilnius
I was born in Vilnius. It's where my deepest roots are. A city of history, baroque charm, and the beginning of my journey. My favourite city. Whenever I go back to Vilnius to visit my family, which I do several times a year these days, it feels like my Tartu life is put on pause, and my Vilnius life continues from where it stopped last time.
My Tartu
It's my current base. A compact, cosy and green "city of good thoughts", as its slogan says. Indeed, its youthful environment with the renowned University of Tartu, founded in 1632, has inspired me a lot. Tartu has been on my map since my childhood. My grandparents lived here, and I loved to visit and stay with them.
